During one edition of the LIGNA trade fair in Germany, Mr. Chang had a chance encounter on a misboarded train with the largest wood processor in Australia. Sharing similar values, the two parties quickly connected. After over a year of back-and-forth communication, simulations, and tests, they successfully completed a comprehensive turnkey factory project. This collaboration highlighted Mr. Chang’s professionalism and patience, as well as SK Global’s high execution efficiency in customized turnkey solutions.
This case propelled SK Global to further engage in developing equipment for CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) and GLT (Glued Laminated Timber) engineered wood. Timber buildings offer numerous benefits—fire resistance, soundproofing, seismic resilience, ease of assembly, and shorter construction times. There are already buildings over 25 stories high constructed from timber worldwide. Mr. Chang points out that with the integration of forestry resources and equipment upgrades, Taiwan has the potential to establish a complete timber construction supply chain and realize the vision of low-carbon architecture.
Expanding Applications to Drive a Sustainable Future
SK Global is also actively developing charcoal production lines by integrating molding, carbonization, and cooling modules to build high-efficiency charcoal production systems for its clients. Through innovative technology, the volume of carbonized wood is compressed, extending combustion time and enhancing both energy efficiency and economic value—thus maximizing resource reuse and profitability.
